Several crew members working on the upcoming Eddie Murphy comedy “The Pickup” were injured during an action sequence filmed in Georgia on Saturday.

Amazon Studios, the film’s production company, confirmed the incident on Tuesday. A spokesperson for the studio revealed that the injuries occurred during the filming of a pre-planned action sequence involving a second unit crew (a specialized crew for stunts and action scenes).

“The sequence unfortunately did not go as planned, resulting in injuries to several crew members,” the spokesperson stated.

According to a report by the Associated Press, a truck malfunctioned and collided with a car on set. The report details that two crew members were hospitalized, while others sustained injuries ranging from bruises to broken bones. Thankfully, none of the film’s main stars, including Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson, were present during the accident.

Amazon Studios is currently investigating the cause of the accident. “Our primary focus remains on the well-being of those who were injured,” said the spokesperson. “Safety is paramount on our sets, and we uphold the highest industry standards. We will continue to investigate this incident thoroughly.”

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the union representing film and television crew members, is also looking into the situation.

Production on “The Pickup” is currently underway at Shadowbox Studios in Georgia. Reports indicate that filming of the second unit sequence was suspended on Sunday.
